Maintaining Existing User Group Memberships in ShareBase

To maintain existing user group memberships in ShareBase, make sure user group names in ShareBase exactly match the user group names in the external system.

You can use one of the following approaches:

  • Create universal or global security groups in the external system to match the existing user groups in ShareBase.

  • Rename the ShareBase user groups to match the names of the corresponding external groups.

The group names must match exactly to ensure the ShareBase IdP maps them successfully. This mapping ensures users remain members of the ShareBase user groups they are currently members of.

If a user group is not mapped successfully on initial implementation, you can rename the user group in ShareBase to match the intended group in the external system. The ShareBase user group will be mapped to the external group the next time a user belonging to the external group logs in.
