Deleting User Accounts

Site Administrators and User Administrators can delete ShareBase user accounts. When deleting a user account, you can optionally transfer ownership of the deleted user's content to another user.

To delete a user:

  1. In ShareBase Administration, click Users.
    The Users list is displayed.
  2. Click the delete button in the rightmost column for the user you want to delete.
You are prompted to confirm deleting the user.
  3. Choose whether you want to transfer or purge the deleted user's content.
    • To transfer the deleted user's content to another user, specify the other user in the Transfer ownership to field.

    • To purge the deleted user's content, leave the Transfer ownership to field blank.

      CAUTION:

If no user is specified for transferring content, the deleted user's content is permanently deleted and cannot be restored.

  4. Choose whether you want to transfer or purge content from the user's Deleted Items page.
    • To restore and transfer content from the user's Deleted Items page, select Restore User's Deleted Items.

Only content deleted by the user from the user's personal library can be restored and transferred. Purged content is not restored or transferred. This option is available only if another user is specified in the Transfer ownership to field.

    • To purge content from the user's Deleted Items page, leave Restore User's Deleted Items deselected.

  5. Choose whether you want to revoke all shared links created by the user.
    • To revoke all shared links created by the user, select Revoke All Links to User Content.

When this option is selected, deleting the user also revokes all shared links created by the user, including links to content in corporate libraries. This option is available only if another user is specified in the Transfer ownership to field.

    • To retain all shared links created by the user, leave Revoke All Links to User Content deselected.

Ownership of shared links will be transferred to the owner of the library where the shared content resides.

  6. Click the delete button.
    • Click Delete & Purge Content if you did not specify a user for transferring content.

The user account is deleted, and the user's associated content is deleted and purged.

    • Click Delete & Transfer Content if you specified a user for transferring content.

The user account is deleted. The user's associated content is transferred to the other user, and the user is notified. In addition, a transfer report is emailed to all ShareBase Site Administrators.
