Enabling Document Watermarking

Watermarking can be enabled to discourage users from copying or capturing screenshots of confidential information stored in your ShareBase deployment.

When watermarking is enabled, watermarks are displayed only on shared documents the user is not allowed to download.

  • Internal Shares: If a document is opened from an internal share by a user who does not have download rights, then the watermark specifies the user's ShareBase account and a timestamp.

  • External Shares (Links): If a document is opened from an externally shared link that does not allow documents to be downloaded, then the watermark specifies the IP address of the current machine and a timestamp.

Note:

Watermarks are not displayed on multimedia documents.

To enable watermarking:

  1. On the Deployment Details page, select the Enable Watermarking check box.
  2. Click Save when finished.
